How to Use CoSchedule Headline Analyzer for Big Results

August 10, 2018 by Susan Velez

Today, I am going to walk you through on how to use the CoSchedule Headline Analyzer and show you why I love it so much. Your blog title will play a huge role on your organic rankings and that’s why I think it’s so important to learn about this headline generator.

Quick Story

When I first started this blog, I really didn’t pay that much attention to my blog titles. Heck, I didn’t even know anything about using a headline generator or how it worked.

One day, I was listening to a podcast and it was talking about different headline types and how to make improvements. After taking a look at mine, I knew that they could use a makeover. (I can’t remember which podcast it was)

So I started checkout out all the different headline generators. Here’s a list of some of them that you can check out:

  • SEOPressor blog title generator
  • Tweak Your Biz title generator
  • Advanced Marketing Institute emotional headline analyzer

There are several different tools at your fingertips that you can use to help you write headlines that make people want to click. No, I’m not talking about using click bait to get people to read your posts.

I’m talking about creating amazing headlines with power words that make people want to click. Once they are on your site, they dive deeper into your content. In turn, this improves your search engine rankings.

Are you ready to get more people to read your blog posts? If so then let’s look at all the features of the tool that I use on a daily basis. Then we’ll take a look at what you can do to start making improvements to your blog.

What Is The Coschedule Headline Analyzer

It’s a free tool that will help you get more traffic and shares. Oh and it’s completely free, so there’s absolutely no reason NOT to use it. I’m going to run you through on how to use it and then I’ll share how this tool has helped me not only improve my posts but helped me get accepted as a guest blogger for some great blogs.

You can get started my visiting this link.

How to Use The Headline Checker

As a blogger, you’re writing content on a daily basis for your products, emails, blog posts and guest posts. Think of this tool as a blogging coach who will help you write better titles that capture attention and make people click.

It’s easy, all you have to do is think of a title that you’re going to use for an upcoming blog post. For this example, I’m going to use “Tips to Improve Your Blog Traffic”

In the past, I would’ve probably used that headline.

There are several improvements that can be made and I’ll cover that a little bit later. First, let’s look at all the data the headline checker gives us.

Word Balance Analyzer

The cool thing about this title analyzer is that it will check the grammar and overall structure of your titles. As you can see it checks to see if you’re using the following words in your title:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Emotional
  • Power

Don’t worry if you don’t know what this means, it takes a while to figure this out. This post will show you how to use the proper word balance in your headlines.

Length Analysis

The meta title should only be 55 characteristics if you want to work on improving your SEO. I have to admit that I don’t always make mine the correct length, so don’t always do as I do 🙂

Make sure that you’re making the most of your meta title. You want to make sure that you’re using all the characters.

First & Last Three

When someone sees your blog title in the organic listings, they are skimming the first and last 3 words of a headline. You only have a few seconds to invoke sentiment to make them want to click.

If your title doesn’t invoke the right emotional call to action, you won’t get the clicks. This is why so many people say that the titles are more important than the content.

It doesn’t matter if you have amazing content, no one is going to read it if your titles suck.

Google Search Preview

This tool will even show you what your title will look like in the search results. This part is extremely important because Google will cut your title after the first 60 characters.

So it’s going to take a little bit of creativity on your part to ensure that your title idea is the right length and hits the right emotional triggers. (don’t worry it takes time to get good at this)

Email Subject Lines

Are you struggling with getting your subscribers to open your emails? If so then this tool can help you improve your email headlines. We’ve heard the term the “money is in the list.” If you can’t get your email list to open your emails, you’ll never be able to monetize it.

Now that you’ve seen how powerful this tool is, it’s time to start writing better blog titles. Below, you’re going to find tips and resources to help you make some small tweaks.

It takes time to get good at writing amazing headlines. I’m still working on a daily basis to improve mine. But I can say that it’s definitely worth it.

How to Improve Your Blog Titles With CoSchedule

Hopefully, you’ve seen how powerful this tool can be for anyone who is using content marketing to drive traffic and sales. If you’re constantly publishing new content on a regular basis, you need to start paying better attention to your blog titles.

The best advice I can give you is to keep experimenting as much as possible. Use Buzzsumo to find popular blog topics in your niche. Pay attention to the headlines they are using.

Has it gotten a bunch of social shares? If so then that’s a headline that you want to take the time to analyze.

Use Plugins

I’ve heard so many people say that they use different plugins to test out different headlines. I have to admit, I haven’t started doing this, but it’s definitely something to consider if no one is reading your blog.

Here are some WordPress plugins that you can use to help you A/B split test your titles. You’ll have to play around with them because I’ve personally never used them.

  • Title Experiments Free
  • Thrive Headline Optimizer

Both of these plugins can help you experiment to see if you can increase your click-throughs.

Plan Ahead

I have noticed that my headlines suck when I am trying to publish content the night before it’s due. Try to stay ahead 8-12 weeks with your content.

You’ll not only write better blog posts, but you’ll have more time to experiment with different titles. Our content seems to lack that pizzazz when we put so much pressure on ourselves.

This is why a blog schedule is so important. It not only helps you plan ahead but it allows you the freedom to take time and off and work on improving your content and focusing on other areas to help you grow your blog.

As a blogger, we all know that there are many last minute projects that need to be done. If you can manage to stay ahead on your content, it will make your life a lot easier.

Practice, Practice, Practice

The only way that we get better at anything is to practice on a regular basis. If you’re struggling with writing amazing titles, spend more time writing and experimenting with your wording.

Don’t be afraid to ask on social media sites. I’ve seen so many people ask for other people’s opinions in Facebook Groups.

If you’re in the right group, people will give you their honest opinion. In the end, it all comes down to testing to see what actually works.

Monitor Your Analytics

Google Analytics will provide with a ton of data about your blog. Start paying attention to the time on your blog. Your goal is to make your blog sticky and get people to read it and hopefully share it.

average time on page

Honestly, I have no clue what a decent time on page is. I’m pretty happy with this one as it is over 5 minutes, that means that I did a good job with the intro and the content itself.

People are actually clicking on it so the headline must be working.

Final Take Away

Blogging is hard work and there’s always something to learn. All you can do is take it one step at a time and keep trying to improve.

You don’t have to get everything perfect from the start. If you wait for perfection, then you’ll never post content on a regular basis. The only way your blog is going to grow is by publishing good quality content and taking the time to promote it.

If you realize that your headlines need improvement, you can always go back and fix it. I’m currently in the process of updating a bunch of old posts.

This doesn’t stop me from continuing to publish new content and it shouldn’t stop you either.
