How to Come Up With Travel Names Ideas
Choosing a blog name can be a very challenging thing. Especially, if you’re not a very creative individual. I’ve thought about starting new blogs in the past but never did because I just couldn’t think of a clever name. Heck, it took me a long time to finally decide to just blog under my real name.
As new bloggers, we are our own worst nightmare. It’s so easy to second guess everything that we do. In fact, I’ve seen so many people get stuck and paralyzed from moving on from the beginning task.
Maybe you’ve seen those questions in Facebook Groups:
- What type of logo should I use for my blog?
- Should I invest in a premium theme or start with a free one? (If you’re serious about building a business, choose a WordPress theme that makes your blog look professional)
- What colors should I use for my blog?
- Which social sharing plugin should I use? (this is the one that I use for my blog)
- Is my logo centered?
Maybe you’ve asked some of those questions yourself. Personally, I think that those tasks are just an excuse to procrastinate launching your blog.
While it’s true that your blog should look professional. The cool thing is that you don’t need to worry about everything before actually hitting publish on your first blog post. Your blog is a work in progress and you’ll continue to make it better every step of the way.
Once you’ve started, you’ll realize that it’s impossible to know everything at the beginning.
The travel industry is huge and I thought about starting my second blog in it, especially after listing to this podcast that talks about the best niches that make the most money.
If I remember correctly, I believe that the travel niche falls in the top 5 or 6 on the list. No wonder so many new bloggers are starting their blogs in this niche.
If you can start your blog and keep persisting I have no doubt that you will see the success you desire.
Coming Up With Travel Name Ideas

If you’re considering starting a blog, that’s awesome. Blogging can take you places you never thought was possible. It can also make you want to pull your hair out at the beginning because there’s so much to learn.
However, if you stick with it, chances are it will change your life for the better.
Let’s help you pick some great travel blog name ideas that will attract the right readers. I don’t want you to spend too much time trying to find the right name.
Instead, my goal is to help you get your domain registered so you can focus on writing content. So I’m going to share some easy to access tools you can use, plus we’ll take a look at some popular blog name examples to help you get your creative juices flowing.
What Is A Travel Blogger?
These bloggers choose to share their nomadic travel adventures with their readers. They share their personal experiences on their blog, Instagram, Facebook or any other social media site.
A lot of them eventually start a vlog because they can share their experiences a lot easier through video than writing. You can share your adventures through writing, video or both.
It takes time to come up with ideas for names for a YouTube channel. But with the right motivation and time to come up with something witty or clever you can create a success platform.
I suggest starting with a blog first to get the hang of writing the type of content your readers find helpful.
The most important thing to remember is to spend time picking a blog name that let’s your readers know what your about. Once you do that you start writing and get readers to your blog.
The best way to do that is to come up with good titles for adventure stories you want to share. You’ll also need to spend time looking for good travel blog keywords to use in your posts.
Eventually, as you start getting loyal readers and followers, your blog should start to make money.
Imagine being one of those travel bloggers that blogs about adventure and fun and making a living. Don’t laugh, it’s happened for several people and it can happen to you.
But it won’t happen until you start a travel blog and the only way you’ll do that is by choosing your domain name and getting everything set up.
Already Have a Name in Mind?
Most people who want to start a blog, have some idea of what they want to use as their name. But the truth is that with over 70 million WordPress blogs online, maybe you’ve found that your name is already taken.
I think we all have had that happen at one point in our life. It sucks, but sometimes it takes a little bit of digging to come up with a clever blog name that is actually available.
If you already have a blog name you want to register, then head on over to Namecheap to see if it’s available. If it is, then I recommend starting with SiteGround for your hosting. It’s the same hosting company I use for this blog and I love it because it’s affordable for new bloggers.
Is your blog name taken? If so then it’s time to start brainstorming for some possible ideas that will work for you.
Using A Blog Name Generator
The cool thing is that there are so many different blog name generators that will help you come up with something unique that helps your blog stand out.
When I started my second blog, I used these two domain name generators and found them extremely easy to use.
Although they didn’t help me come up with the perfect blog name. They definitely helped come up with some ideas that I hadn’t thought of on my own.
What Worked for Me
You know how people say that entrepreneurs are the most creative people? Well, that is definitely NOT true for me. I am the least creative person alive. I suck at coming up with creative names for my digital products like my ebooks, blog names or anything that requires me to the left side of my brain.
I can set up WordPress and take care of a lot of the technical aspects of blogging. But when it comes to doing something that involves creativity, I completely break down.
So when I came up with my the name of my second blog, I turned off my MacBook Pro and just focusing on the task at hand. We were painting our storage building.
While I was painting and listing to Spotify the name just came to me. It’s funny how things seem to come to me when I let it go.
As soon as I thought of the name, I ran inside and registered it on Namecheap. I figured if I didn’t register it right away I’d forget about it. See if that works for you.
Just let it go, don’t think about it and hopefully, that will come to you. If not, then maybe it’s time to look at some bloggers in your niche that have come up with some amazing names.

Tips for Choosing A Travel Name
Avoid Putting Yourself in A Box
We hear it all the time, you should narrow your niche as much as possible. I’ve tried this in the past and I will tell you that you don’t want to do that as a new blogger.
Eventually, as your blog starts to grow, you can start narrowing your niche if you want. But if you try to go too narrow at the beginning, you’ll struggle to write content for your niche.
Instead, go wide when you first start your blog. After all, your blog is brand new and you have no clue what resonates with your audience because you don’t have one yet.
Install Google Analytics from day one and eventually, you’ll start to see what your most popular blog posts. You can then use that to write more content.
It’s not unusual for a blogger to pivot their blog, especially, when they start seeing what’s popular and what isn’t.
You’ll experience faster success if you can give your audience what they want instead of doing exactly what you want. It’s funny how things work in blogging.
We start out with our own plans, but then we realize what we wanted to do just doesn’t work. So if you want to see success, you have to pivot.
Procrastination
If there’s one thing that I am good at when I want to do something but not sure how to proceed is procrastinating. I’ve been guilty of wanting to start a second blog but taking to so long to find the perfect blog name.
Look, I know you want your blog name to tell the world what you are and what you do. After all, branding a blog seems to be the thing these days.
But once you decide that you want to start a blog and have chosen your niche, it is time to just move forward. Yes, you’ll probably have to spend some time brainstorming some topics and ideas for your new domain name.
The truth is that it should NOT take you more than a few days. As long as you do not get an exact match domain and leave yourself some room to expand or pivot later on down the road, you should be fine.
This goes for any type of blog that you want to start, whether it is a travel blog, lifestyle blog, mommy blog, tech blog or any other type of blog you are getting ready to start.
Do not overthink it and drag your feet. If you screw up on the domain name, it’s not the end of the world.
Use Your Name
The travel industry is such a huge niche, it will not take you that long to realize there are already thousands of travel blogs. Why not use your real name or a part of your name.
If you take a look at some of the examples of the blog URL’s that I found online, you will notice that some of these bloggers used their name in their blog URL.
In my opinion, using your name makes your blog a lot more personal because it allows you to write about pretty much anything. You will not have to worry about whether a subject or topic that you want to talk about will work on your blog.
Not only that, but it will make sharing your nomadic travel experiences a lot easier. Of course, that’s what I have noticed while working on this blog.
I get to share blogging tips for new bloggers and at the end of every month, I get to share my personal blog growth tips with you and show you how this blog is growing as well as my personal blogging journey with you.
It’s a win-win when it comes to blogging under your name.
Avoid The Copy Cat Syndrome
It’s so easy to find a successful travel blog and want to use a name similar to what they are using. While this can work and I have seen it done outside of the travel niche, I personally do not think that it should be done.
You want to choose a blog name that is unique and will help you build your own unique brand. If you choose something that is similar to someone else’s blog name, then people may end up confused.
Spend some time coming up with your own unique name and build your own brand. Remember, our blogs are meant to be different and that is what makes them stand out.
Your goal should NOT be to copy someone else’s successful blog. Yes, you can use ideas or search for popular blog topics by visiting other popular travel blogs. But you never want to copy someone else’s hard work.
Tips for Choosing Your Social Media Names
If you’re building an authority blog with a brand, you’re going to have to register your social media handles. Once you’ve come up with your domain name, it’s time to see if that name is available.
I personally wouldn’t put too much emphasis if your username is already taken. If you’re totally attached to the domain you’ve chosen, then I would try to find a cool, catchy, and fun social media handle.
You can always change this later if you want. Most people place too much emphasis on getting the right domain and social media handle. The truth is that as long as people know what your blog and channel is about, then you’ll be fine.
I’d recommend setting up social media accounts for your blog on these platforms, even if you don’t use them right away:
- Facebook Page (not a personal profile)
- YouTube/Vimeo
I’ll share some tips for each platform to help you get started as quickly as possible. There are plenty of username generators that will help you come up with some cool ideas.
If your blog is about taking a road trip around the world, then you’ll want to make sure people know i when they see your name. Twitter handles can only be a maximum of 14 characters, so keep that in mind when searching.
Instagram has a character limit of 30 symbols. Usernames can only contain underscores, periods, letters, and numbers. If you’re going to be using it, I’d recommend looking at some Instagram travel names from other bloggers, to get your creative juices flowing.
Pinterest usernames can be 3-30 characters long and can’t have punctuations, symbols, or spaces. The “about you” section has a limit of 160 characters, so make sure that you make them count.
YouTube
Youtube channel names are limited to 20 case insensitive, that can only contain alphanumeric characters. The minimum length is 6 characters. A lot of travel blogs will create vlogs to help their followers see their lifestyle and destinations.
You don’t have to decide if you’ll be vlogging right now. But if it’s something you’ve thought of, it wouldn’t hurt to try to come up with some catchy travel vlog names.
Here are some tips to creating a travel video.
Now What?
Congratulations, if you’ve implemented all the tips on this post, this means that you now have a functioning WordPress site set up that has a great name for a travel blog.
Now it’s time to write your first blog post. One of the biggest mistakes that most new bloggers make is creating content that no one wants to read.
Things to Focus On When Writing Your First Post
As a new blogger, you need to find out what’s working for others in the travel niche. This means you’ll want to go to Buzzsumo and find popular content from other bloggers.
Find content that is popular on Pinterest. If it has worked for them, it can work for you. You’ll need to write up your unique version those popular articles.
Use CoSchedule Headline analyzer to come up with clickable travel blog titles. As soon as you’re done writing that article, hit publish. It doesn’t matter if you only have one post on your blog.
Get it out there as soon as possible. You want to start planting those seeds, so that Google can start indexing you. The sooner you get those seeds planted, the sooner you’ll start to see SEO traffic.
