Money Making Tips What You Should Focus On As A New Blogger
I know what you’re thinking, another article about money making tips that have you buy this course and that course.
Well, that’s not what this post is about. Sure you can buy a blogging course if you want. I invested in the Elite Blog Academy when I started my blog because I wanted to make sure that I had a roadmap to turn my blog into a business.
But if you have the gusto to go it alone, then go for it. It’s totally possible to grow your blog without investing in courses. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time Googling free information.
Instead, I am going to share the top 3 things you should focus on as a new blogger, especially, if you ever want to make money.
Once you develop the habit of doing these things on a daily basis, you’ll start to see some growth. You can also start implementing other blogging tasks that will help you grow faster.
#1 Content That Can Be Found
Before you can start attracting an audience to your blog, you want to make sure that you are writing helpful content that helps your audience. This is why so many people will say you need to know who you’re writing to.
Not only do you want to write helpful content your audience needs. Most importantly, you need to focus on writing content that your audience wants to read.
Before Writing Your Blog Posts
Okay, this is the most important part of writing the right blog posts. For the first year of my blog, I was so focused on writing content for Google.
I would open up LongTail Pro and would quickly do some keyword research. I never paid any attention to the competition of the keyword.

As long as the blog post helped solve a problem for my audience, I would write it. After all, I love writing WordPress tutorials that help you understand the blogging platform.
Plus it’s nice when your Google traffic starts to kick in. But between you and I, that won’t happen for a while. You don’t want your blog archives filled up with articles that will be successful once Google starts sending you traffic.
Before you write another blog post, make sure that you use these tips to help you get found on Pinterest.
Use Pinterest for Keyword Research
Yup, that’s right. For the past several months, I have been using Pinterest to help me find keywords for my blog posts. Now I don’t just want to focus on Pinterest for traffic. I always make sure that my blog posts are optimized for both Pinterest and Google.
Now you’re probably wondering how can I do keyword research on Pinterest? I know, it was confusing to me at first when I first read about it.
I’m going to show you what I do and hopefully, it will help you get started. You may not realize how easy it is to use Pinterest to find creative ways to make money with your blog posts.
All you have to do is spend some time on the platform and in one day you can come up with tons of different blog topics you can write about.
If you do start using this method to help you write your next blog post, be sure to come back to me in a few months and let me know if it helps you increase your blog traffic.
I’d love to hear how you’re using Pinterest to help you brainstorm your blog topics.
Finding The Right Keywords
Okay log into your Pinterest account and go to the search bar at the top. Let’s say that your blog is in the pet niche and you wanted to write a blog post on pet crates. After all, we know what dog owners are willing to spend money on pet crates.
When you start typing in pet crates on Pinterest, it will show you some related searches.
You can then choose to write a blog post on one of those related searches keywords. After all, you know that people are actually typing in that keyword into Pinterest.
I recommend taking it a step further to make sure that the keyword you’re thinking about writing has an opportunity to bring you traffic from Google. Read this to find out how to optimize your blog posts for both Pinterest and Google.
If you’re confused on how to do this, then this will help you understand how to optimize your posts for both Google and Pinterest.
After all, you don’t want to spend a lot of time writing content that only ranks on Pinterest.
#2 Traffic, Traffic, Traffic
I know that a lot of people will disagree with me saying that you shouldn’t focus on traffic or pageviews. No, you don’t have to get obsessed with your traffic stats.
But if you ever want to make money with your blog, then you need traffic. I don’t care how amazing or helpful your content is.
If you don’t have traffic or are not getting your content in front of new readers, you’re never going to:
- make money
- grow your email list
- get people to buy your products and services
Basically, your success comes down to getting your content in front of the right people and converting them to subscribers.
Focus On Pinterest
As a new blogger, you’re going to stay motivated longer if you can see quick results. No one wants to spend years working on their blog without any return.
Yes, it’s true that it can take years before you create a truly successful blog. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t invest your time into learning how to use Pinterest to see some quick results.
It does take some time to use it and get some results. But the time and effort that you put into learning how to use the platform will be worth your time.

#3 Growing Your Email List
While page views are great, at the end of the day, they don’t mean anything if you’re not growing your email list.
Your main goal as a blogger should be to grow your email list. You want to make sure that you’ve set up an amazing lead magnet that entices people to subscribe to your email list.
If you still haven’t created one, here’s how to create a resource library on WordPress. You can then use your WordPress library to place all your freebies inside.
Not Everyone Is Going to Subscribe
Remember, not everyone who comes to your blog is going to subscribe to your email list. That’s okay, you only want the people who actually care about what you’re writing about.
This is why it’s so important to know who you’re writing to. When that person comes to your blog and reads your content, they will know that you’re the person they want to follow.
Once you start growing your email list, then you need to start nurturing the list and building a relationship with them. Eventually, over time your loyal readers will start buying the products and services that you recommend.
This Is What It Takes to Grow
It’s actually this easy to grow a blog. The downside is that it can take a while to grow. It does take some time to grow a successful blog, and some people are able to grow faster than others.
That’s okay, you can’t compare yourself to other bloggers. You just need to keep moving forward with your goals and do something to help you grow your blog each and every day.
Why So Many Bloggers Fail
So if it’s really this easy to grow a blog, why do so many bloggers fail to succeed online?
Well, I can definitely speak from my personal experience of failing with a blog in the past.
For me, I started a blog because I was chasing the money. I had no interest in the niche and when I didn’t see success fast enough, I threw in the towel.
I didn’t want to spend months or years trying to learn how to make money online using the slow growth method. Instead I was so focused on making money fast. That’s all I cared about.
Today, I realize what it takes to grow a blog. I’ve realized that it’s not going to happen overnight.
It takes time to grow a blog and you shouldn’t expect overnight results. If you have never blogged before, sign up for this free 12-Day Blogging Bootcamp that will help you get started the right way.
People Expect Overnight Results
We live in a society where we can get things overnighted or two day delivery with Amazon Prime. When we hear or read about other bloggers who were able to make six figures in 6 months, we tend to believe that we are doing something wrong.
This leads us to more negative thinking and eventually, we go looking for those overnight promises. You know those courses and products that say we can get overnight success.
Before you know it, we’re not making any progress with our blogs.
What You Should Do
If you really want to create a successful blog, start focusing on these 3 tips. Your main goal should be to get to your first 25,000 pageviews with your blog.
Once you get to 25,000 pageviews you can then monetize your blog with Mediavine ads. I know what you’re thinking, you don’t want to monetize your blog with ads.
That’s okay, you can always remove the ads once you start creating your own products. The cool thing is that you have complete control over how you want to monetize your blog.
I’m not saying that you can’t make money if you don’t have a lot of traffic. There are several ways to make money from a blog without adding ads to your blog.
But creating a passive income stream by monetizing with ads can be a great way to diversify your income. If your goal is to earn a successful blog.
You’ll definitely want to make sure that you’re creating multiple passive income streams.
It’s easier to keep blogging when you’re actually making money with your blog. Celebrate every little win that you achieve with your blog.
Don’t listen to people who tell you that they have the secret to growing your blog overnight. Chances are they are just trying to sell you a product.
I’ve spent a lot of money on courses and products in the past. There’s absolutely nothing available that will help you see success overnight.
Unfortunately, if you really want to build a successful blog, you’re going to have to be willing to work hard at the beginning.
But as long as you continue moving towards your goals, you will eventually see some money from your blog. This is why so many people remember their first affiliate sale. It’s exciting when you actually start making money with your blog.
If you need some inspiration to keep blogging, then listen to this amazing podcast that will help you understand what it takes to grow a blog.
I know that you want to make money and that’s why you started your blog. If you need to make money today, then you might want to consider looking into making money with online surveys or writing for people who pay you for your articles.
Final Take Away
We all want to focus on the money when we start a blog. Chances are it’s going to take some time to actually make a steady income with your blog.
This is why so many people say that you should start a blog in a niche you’re passionate about. If you actually love the niche you’re writing about, chances are you’ll stick with it even if you’re not making money.
Focus on helping people and eventually the more people that you help the more you will make.
