Everyone says that it’s so easy to start a blog and make money. So most of us start get a domain and set up our blogs.
In this post, I am going to share a little plugin that will help you make the most of your blog traffic. You don’t want to keep working so hard without building an email list.
Blogging Is Hard
I am not going to sugar coat anything and tell you that it’s easy to grow a blog. It’s going to take a lot of work.
Now this doesn’t mean that you can’t grow a blog. I truly believe that anyone can as long as they are willing to keep working towards their goals, no matter how long it takes.
How to Get Followers On Your Blog
We all want blog followers and page views. After all without anyone stopping by our blogs, we do not have a chance of monetizing our blogs or growing our email list.
Anyone who tells you that page views and followers don’t matter. Most likely have already built a following online.
You need to learn how to get followers on your blog, otherwise you will never build a successful blog.
I am going to share some tips that you can use to help you get more followers. This is not an instant fix and it is still going to take a lot of work on your part.
As you know, I don’t believe in overnight results. If you ask any successful blogger, they will tell you that it took them years to achieve their success.
Why Did You Start Your Blog?
Before you can start getting followers, you need to know why you started your blog? Why would people want to follow you?
If you want followers, you have to know what you’re talking about.
Now I am not saying that you have to be an expert. You can share your journey with people and teach them what you’re learning along the way.
If you choose this route, just make sure that you are completely transparent. People will be okay with the fact that you are sharing your journey.
It is better to be completely honest and let people know that you are still learning. Don’t pretend that you know everything, because people will know you’re lying.
You Work Hard On Your Blog Traffic
If you’re trying to turn your blog into a full-time income, then I know how much you work. It takes a lot of time to do keyword research, create images for your social media images, write content and promote your content.
Growing a blog is a never ending process. I know from my personal experience, I spend a lot of time on my blog whenever I am not working on my freelancing business.
There’s always something to do. Not to mention all the writing we do for our blogs, guest posts, Kindle Books and etc.
If you’re like me, then one of the goals on your blog is to grow your email subscribers. If you haven’t started one, then you need to.
Focusing On Email Subscribers
We’ve all heard the importance of growing an email list. After all, these people want to hear from you. They gave you their email because they vibe with you.
Well, if you’re like me, you have not had a lot of success in growing your list.
Yes, my email list has grown, but the truth is that it’s been growing so slow. At the rate I was going, I would never reach my first 1,000 subscribers.
I’ve finally hit over 200 email subscribers and I owe it to this plugin for helping me out.
This Plugin Tripled My Email Subscribers
One of the biggest issues I had was growing my email subscribers. I tried everything, I created a freebie then I created a 7 day WordPress course.
Next, I created a resource library, which I still have. You can sign up for my free resource library here.
No matter what I did, nothing seemed to be growing my email list. One day, I read about this plugin that converts your blog posts to a PDF without you having to lift a finger.
I figured what the heck, let me give it a try. I purchased the plugin and let me show you the difference in my email subscribers in a little over a month.

Imagine being able to add a plugin that allows your readers to covert the blog posts that they want to download. Not to mention all your affiliate links stay in tact.
It was a no brainer for me and that’s why I bought it. You can buy it here through my affiliate link.
Now let me show you how to set up the plugin.
Post Gopher Review and Setup
The plugin that I am talking about is called the Post Gopher plugin. This plugin is awesome and makes it easy to turn all your blog posts into a content upgrade.
What Are Content Upgrades?
Maybe you’ve heard that if you want to increase your subscribers, you need to start creating content upgrades.
One of the most popular ways to create content upgrades is to turn your blog post into a downloadable PDF.
I’ve done that with a couple of my blog posts and have put them in my resource library. You can get access to my resource library here.
How to Turn Your Blog Posts Into PDF’s
There are several ways to turn your blog posts into PDF’s. In fact, here are a few of them:
- ZinePal
- Designrr
I actually purchased Designrr and I have to admit that it’s awesome. It will create a PDF from your blog posts quickly.
The downside is that you still have to do the work. You have to add the cover image, make sure it looks good and create the actual PDF.
It doesn’t take long, in fact, I am able to create PDF’s in just 5 minutes.
Want Something Easier?
You don’t have a lot of time to work on your blog. There’s your normal job that sucks your time up and then you have to spend time with your family and loved ones.
There’s just no time to create content upgrades for all your blog posts, even if Designrr doesn’t take that long.
Well, that’s where the plugin comes in handy.
This WordPress plugin allows you to let your visitors create their own PDF for the blog posts that they want to get.
It’s truly a hands-off method of building your email list and making the most of your blog traffic. I love it so much and I am going to walk you through on how to set it up.
How to Set Up The Post Gopher Plugin
You will need to buy the plugin and you can get it here. I know what you’re thinking another cost of running my blog.
This plugin is worth it and if you use it, I have no doubt that it will help you grow your email list. You can pick it up here.
The first weekend after I added it to my blog, I gained 5 subscribers.

That’s the most subscribers that I have gotten in one day. (sad I know, but growing my email list has been a huge challenge for me)
Plus I haven’t even strategically placed the download button on all the blog posts. I only went through and did it on my 5-6 most popular blog posts according to Google Analytics.
I know I need to go back in and do some more of my posts. But the truth is that it’s been a challenging week for me.
This week, I cam down with a really bad cold and haven’t wanted to spend a lot of time working on my blog. So I’ve been giving myself a break.
Login And Access Your Plugin
Once you purchase the plugin, you will get the login details to access your purchase. You’ll want to download the plugin so you can install it on your blog.

If you are completely new to WordPress and need help installing WordPress, here’s a tutorial I created to help you understand WordPress plugins.
Activating Your License
Once you install the plugin, you’ll be asked to enter your license key. The cool thing about this plugin is that allows you to use it on multiple blogs.
If I ever start another blog in another niche, I’ll be able to use this plugin.
Accessing Your License Keys
If you are using the plugin for more than one site, you will need to create an additional license. For this tutorial, I am creating this tutorial on my test blog using Desktop Server.
The plugin is already active on my Susan Velez blog, but I don’t currently have a license for my test site.
Log into your Post Gopher account and head on over to your License Keys.
Click on Generate New Key

Now copy that license key and head on over to your WordPress blog. Paste that key in the text field for your license key.

If everything went well, you will see the “Congratulations! You have now activated Post Gopher.”
Let’s Let Readers Convert Your Blog Posts Into PDF’s
Before you can let your readers convert your blog posts into PDF’s, you need to set everything up. Don’t worry, I am going to walk you through the entire process.
You don’t have to set it up exactly like I do, in fact, I left a lot of the settings as default.
Post Gopher Settings
Head on over to the Post Gopher Settings so we can set up how the download link will look like on your blog.

Let’s run through the settings so you can make sure that you understand everything.
Button Preview: This is exactly how the button will look like on your blog if you do not make any changes to it.
Text On Button: You can change this text to say anything you want it to say.
Styling the Button: This section will allow you to change the color, border and text color of the button style.
Choose Button Effects: You can choose whether you want your button to have any type of effects or not. I am currently using the Bounce effect on my blog.
Button Placement: Do you want the button to show at the top, bottom or both the top and bottom.
Show Button On: Where do you want the button to show up? Choose between All Posts, All Pages, or specific categories.
Place Your Button Using Short Code
I don’t know about you, but I wanted the ability to place my buttons where ever I wanted them. Unfortunately, if you want more control, you are going to have to purchase the Post Gopher Extension Pack.
The extension pack makes it easy for you to place your buttons using shortcodes. Here’s what you will see if you purchase the extension.

It’s easy to add the button using shortcodes. All you have to do is place the shortcode wherever you want the button to show up on your blog.
You can even give your shortcode a name to help you keep track of your optin-statistics to see which blog posts are converting the best.
If you want more control over this plugin, I highly recommend investing in the extension pack. You can get it here.
Lead Gen Set Up
Once you’ve set up the settings, it’s time to connect your email autoresponder to the plugin. At the time of this writing, the plugin supports the following autoresponders:
- Active Campaign
- Aweber
- ConvertKit
- Drip
- GetResponse
- MailerLite
- Rapid Mailer
- Send Lane
I currently use GetResponse and was able to set this up just by adding my GetResponse API key.
Once I entered the API key, I chose the correct autoresponder campaign and clicked save changes.
Feel free to change anything on this page. I left mine as default as I just wanted to get the plugin up and running as quickly as possible.
PDF Set Up
This tab allows you to select the template of the PDF. They currently have 3 templates that you can choose from.

All I did for my PDF’s is I chose the template I wanted to use. Then I uploaded my blog logo to use.
Other than that I left everything else as default. I suggest that you run through all the settings to see how you want yours to look like.
All Set-Up
Once you’ve run through all this, your blog should now be set up to allow people to create PDF’s from your blog posts.
Now you don’t have to worry about creating any content upgrades. Your blog is set up to magically create content upgrades without any effort on your part.
Profit Page Editor
If you invested in the Extension Pack, then you have the ability to set up a profit page editor.
What Is A Profit Page Editor?
You can use this page to add anything you want to your PDF’s. You can add:
- Gifts
- Social media links
- Bonuses
- FAQ
- Etc..
Get creative and use this page to help you monetize your PDF’s or do anything you want. Basically, it all comes down to how creative you are.
You Work Hard
By now you know that it takes a lot of hard work to grow a blog. One of the best things that you can do is focus on growing your email list.
The people who sign up for your email list want to know more about you. If you treat them right, they will eventually buy your products, recommendations, and services.
As a blogger, you should be focusing on growing your email list. This plugin will help you learn how to get followers on your blog, without you having to work any harder.
Keep Testing Strategies
One of the biggest blogging mistakes most new bloggers make is they don’t test new strategies. Just because someone says this or that works for them.
They follow blindly without testing things out. I’ve been guilty of that. I find something that works and I stick with it.
Sometimes it takes me to long to test new things on my blog. However, since adding this blog, my subscribers are finally growing.
As long as the plugin keeps working, I’ll definitely be leaving it on my blog. I love the fact that it’s hands-off for me now that it’s set up.
Final Take Away
We all know that it takes time to grow a blog. You’ve been told that you need to treat your blog like a business if you want to create a profitable blog.
Why not use the best tools and resources that will help you grow your blog? This plugin does just that and I have no doubt that you will love it as much as I do.
If you want to increase your email subscribers, then you might want to invest in this plugin.

Hi Susan,
Nice article. It’s a great idea to convert a post to pdf that can increase our email subscribers too.
Yes, at the starting, it is too hard to get email followers easily. So why we have to strategize to convert the blog readers into blog followers.
Thank you for sharing this pdf converting idea, it might be helpful.

Hey Susan,
Great article, as always. I totally agree with you that focusing on email subscribers is one of the most important things. I’m still struggling with that part, but I believe I will find the most appropriate way to increase the engagement.
By the way, the PDF plugin which you recommend seems great, so far I’m manually creating PDF versions of my posts and I have to link manually everything to my email campaign. Did you have any issues during the configuration or the plugin seamlessly integrates with your autoresponder?
Thanks,
Velin
Hi Velin,
I know what you mean about growing an email list. That was my biggest issue as well.
At first I was creating all my PDF’s manually as well, but it’s time consuming.
No, I didn’t have any issues with the plugin, it’s extremely easy to install and configure and set up. I actually put the autoresponders that it works with in the post, so make sure that the one you’re using is on the list.
I have no doubt that you won’t have any issues setting it up if you do get it. If you do pick it up, be sure and come back and let me know if it helps you get more email subscribers.
I’d love to hear if it increases your subscribers like it did mine.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment.
Have a great day 🙂

Hi Susan,
Very useful article written in complete detail to help the reader with the whole process of setting the plugin up.
Providing the option to save a PDF version of the page is a very useful content upgrade. When someone likes a post very much he would like to have a PDF copy of it. Needless to say it enhances engagement.
Thanks for sharing this useful information with us. Have a great day!
