As you know, I’ve been working with the FOMO Ad network, you can read that post here. I’ve finally decided to move to one of the top 3 networks and wanted to share my Monumetric review with you to let you know why I decided to make the change and how you can get started.
What Is the Monumetric Ad Network?
Monumetric Ad network formerly known as (The Blogger Network) is a high-performance ad network that pays content creators on the number of impressions instead of clicks like Google Adsense.
One of the cool things about this network is that any blogger can generate revenue, even if no one clicks on your ads. Content marketers have the opportunity to work with Monumetric and display video ads, rich media ads, mobile ads (Flight) and native ads.
Their PPV (pay per view) monetization model works with any website/blog because you can earn passive income just from displaying ads.
Should You Join?
A lot of bloggers start with Google Adsense and then move to FOMO, which is what I did. I know that a lot of people prefer to join Mediavine, which is what I eventually plan on doing.
However, I’ve seen a lot of people getting their application declined from them. Since I am still not at the 25k sessions in 30 days they require, I thought I would test out this PPV ad network to increase my passive income.
Plus, I didn’t want to hold out for Mediavine only to find out that my application gets disapproved. I’m a firm believer of NOT putting all your eggs in one basket.
The Downsides of Joining Monumetric
Unfortunately, there are some downsides of joining this network and I wanted to share some of them with you. I personally don’t think it’s worth not using it, especially, if you’re hoping to create an income from your blog.
Required Pageviews: In order to join this network, you will need to have at least 10,000 pageviews in 30 days. You’ll also be required to pay a $99 set up fee, if you have 80,000 pageviews per month, you don’t have to pay a set up fee.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to pay the fee upfront, they take it out of your earnings.
Number of Ads to Display: The Propel Program requires you to implement a minimum of 6 ad slots on both mobile and desktop. (personally, I’m not a fan of this)
I always said that I wasn’t going to do this with my blog, but like I said, I’m blogging to create a passive income. Eventually, as my pageviews get higher, I will make the decision on whether or not to change networks.
Application Process: If you’re interested in joining, one thing you need is patience. I first applied to this network on December 6, 2018 and didn’t actually get ads put on site until January, 16, 2018.
When you complete the application, someone will contact you to 30 minute meeting. I chose to talk over the phone with Spencer and he told me what I can expect while working with this network.
After the phone consultation, I had to wait several weeks to get approved by publishers. I eventually sent another email to their support, and the next day, I had ads on my blog.
So when you do apply, be patient and be sure that you continue to follow through, so you don’t fall through the cracks.
Net 60 Payout Payments: It will take you 2 months to get your first paycheck. After the waiting period, you will then get paid once a month anywhere from the 1st – 10th.
Monumetric Review Is It Really Worth It?
Okay, now that you know some of the negatives of the network, you’re probably wondering, is it actually worth joining? Well, let’s take a look at my dashboard, for the past eight days of having ads on my blog.
My Monumetric Dashboard
I’m still learning how to read these graphs, but I’m getting used to it. Eight days into displaying ads on my site, my net earnings are $69.45, which is a lot more than I made from FOMO Ads, which I share how much I’ve made in the first 15 days of the month below.
Key Performance Index
As I mentioned, I have no clue what any of this stuff means. I’ve been trying to read the Monumetric blog whenever I get a chance that way I can understand all these metrics.
Here’s a snapshot of my key performance index on this network.
Here’s some of the stats you’ll see on the Key Performance Index stats:
- Pageviews
- Earnings
- Sessions
- Pageviews Per Sessions
- Page RPM
- Impressions
- RMP (Revenue Per Thousand)
- Impressions Per Session
If you’re like me, it will take some time to understand what all this means. But trust me, it’s okay because you’ll be excited when you see your earnings growing everyday.
How to Get Started Today 5 Step Process
The whole process is easy, just visit the Monumetric website and start the online application process. Don’t worry, I’ll walk you through it. Once you follow this tutorial, you can sit back and wait to get the approval email to schedule your on-boarding phone consultation.
Join Propel Step #1
If you have 10,000 – 80,000 page views per month, you’ll be joining the Propel program. (less than 80,000 monthly pageviews you will have to pay a $99 set up fee.)
Complete all the information and you’ll want to make sure that you’re getting at least 10,000 page views.
Congrats You Qualify for Propel
Next you’ll see a screen that lets you know you qualify for displaying ads on your site. Don’t worry too much about that page, just click on next.
On-Boarding Propel
On this screen you’ll want to complete all the information and create a temporary password and username for your blog. They will need to access your website to place the tags on it once you’ve been approved by the publishers.
You won’t have to do anything else until they contact you to schedule your call.
Once You’re Approved
They will send you a welcome email that has your log in details as well as who to contact if you ever have questions. Yup, you even get a support team to help answer any questions you may have.
I’ve already sent them an email regarding a question I had and I can tell you, their response was very quick.
You’ll want to log into your dashboard and get familiar with everything in the back office. At this point, you’ll also be required to perform some tasks such as:
- Setting Up Your Payment Information
- Providing Tax Information
- Connecting Your Google Analytics
- Providing Your FTP Details
- Enable GDPR Consent
- Disable URL for In-Image Ads (I have no clue what this means?)
It won’t take you long to complete everything, so I suggest taking 30 minutes to get everything completed. This will help make sure that you get paid on time.
Two Weeks for Your Blog To Adjust
I was told to set the right expectations of a normal ramp up for a site is about 2 weeks. At that point, one could expect their revenue to normalize and give you an accurate idea of how you will be performing in the system.
So don’t expect to see a huge increase of income at the beginning. It takes time to see which ads are actually bringing you the best income.
The best part is that you don’t have to worry about managing your ads, they do it all for you.
Can You Disable Ads On Specific Posts?
This is the first question I had when my ads went live. There’s no way to do it in the dashboard that I saw. I reached out to support and she told me to gather all the links that I don’t want ads to show up and send her those links.
They would make sure that they removed the ads from those posts. This is great because if you have a blog post that is geared more towards affiliates, you can keep ads from displaying on those posts.
My goal is to send them a list of URL’s that I don’t want ads showing up on.
Top 3 Ad Networks You Should Join
While I am not a huge fan of only relying on ads to make money with a blog, but I am a firm believer in using different monetization methods to create passive income.
Since I’ve joined this ad network, I’ve slowed down on my content writing on this blog so I can work on my other blog. The great thing is that even if I don’t make any affiliate sales, I am still earning money from these display ads.
I know a lot of bloggers start with Adsense or Ezoic in hopes of earning enough to pay for their blogging costs. I’ve never used Ezoic, but I can tell you that Adsense just isn’t worth it.
You’ll lose visitors just to earn a couple of pennies. At least that was my experience was with it.
Wait until you can work with any of the top 3 ad networks which are:
- Monumetric: 10,000 pageviews in 30 days required
- Mediavine: 30,000 sessions in 30 days required
- Adthrive: 100,000 pageviews in 30 days required
Once you can join any of these networks, you can relax a little bit.
Why?
Because all they all pay good money, you’ll finally be earning money 24/7, which is what we all want.
How to Reach 10,000 Pageviews
If you started your blog with the hopes of earning money, your first goal should be to reach 10,000 page views as soon as possible. You could skip Monumetric and just strive for Mediavine if you want.
Either way, you want to start earning money as quickly as possible. The sooner you can start making money, the sooner you’ll feel like you’re not just spinning your wheels without results.
I’m going to share what I did to increase my traffic, and what I’ve been doing that’s actually working.
Here’s What I did
Start focusing on low hanging keywords to rank easier. If you’ve read about my blogging mistakes in the past, you know that I made a ton of mistakes with this blog.
I started out writing a bunch of content focused around extremely competitive keywords and it took me over a year to finally start seeing traffic. It wasn’t until I started using KWFinder that I started noticing an increase in my organic traffic.
I’ve written a step-by-step tutorial on how I use KWFinder to find the right keywords.
I purchased a yearly subscription for KWFinder and since then, I’ve put more emphasis on writing content. It’s been a lot of work, but I am pretty happy with the results I’ve been getting.
There’s still 7 days left in the month and I am almost at 14,000 pageviews for the month. Don’t make the same mistake I made, make sure that you’re choosing the right keywords from the start.
Ad Network To Work With Before 10,000 Page Views
I know you want to earn money from your blog, after all, it takes a lot of work to run a blog. If you’ve been working hard on creating amazing content and still haven’t reached 10,000 page views, I highly recommend getting started with Fomo Ads.
You won’t make a lot, but it’s a great way to join a PPV ad network without having a ton of page views. Here’s what I earned at the beginning of the month from the 1-15 before I changed networks.
You can see I made $15.14 in passive income from January 1-15.
My page views were not any higher than they are now. It’s not a lot of money, but it’s more than I ever made from Adsense in the same time frame.
Final Take Away
You might think that ads make a blog look ugly, I totally get it. If you’re providing valuable content that helps your audience, there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be using ads to help you cover the costs of running a blog.
No, you don’t want your whole monetization strategy to revolve around display ads. Once you start getting more traffic and growing your email list, you can use other methods to make money.
If you’re a new blogger, I suggest using affiliate marketing from the get go. It’s one of the easiest ways to earn money from a blog without having to create your own product.
This free training will teach you everything you need to know about creating the right type of content that actually creates sales.
Regardless of whether you’re using ads to earn money or affiliate marketing. It takes time to actually start earning with a blog, so make sure you give your methods time to work.
