Can You Make A Full Time Living From Home?
There are virtually tons of ways to earn money online, and I’ll be sharing some ideas to help you get started. First let me tell you what I am doing and what to expect.
I started this blog a little over 2 years ago and while it still doesn’t make me a ton of money, it is now making an online income. As it continues to grow, so will the amount of money I make.
It took me a long time to realize that blogging takes time. You have to create the content first and eventually those articles will earn you money.
I know that with time, this blog will eventually become my main income source from home.
First let me tell you that it hasn’t always been easy. I’ve worked my butt off and if I can do it, so can you. Yes, it’s totally possible to make a living from home using the Internet.
The only reason that most people fail is because they get started with something and then quit when they don’t see results fast enough.
I’m going to share some different different income opportunities you can start. Just remember, success doesn’t happen overnight. You’re going to have to work for it if you really want to succeed.
Why I Started This Blog?
When I started this blog over 2 years ago, I was working as a WordPress freelancer. I hated working for clients and having to meet deadlines.
I started this blog to share my WordPress tutorials and help people get their blog started. It was a slow start and I ended up making a lot of mistakes.
But I’ve been able to walk away from being a freelancer and have been able to spend more time on this blog. I’ve alsothat will hopefully grow faster than this blog.
How Much Time Do You Need?
I’ve been pretty fortunate that I’ve never had to juggle a 9-5 job while trying to grow my blog. I know that a lot of people who start a blog, don’t get to devote a lot of time to the growth of their business.
Every blog is different and the amount of time you spend on it will determine how fast you can make money. I’ll share how much time I’ve spent on my blog and how much it actually earned in the beginning stages.
60 Hours A Week for 4-6 Months for Pennies
Are you willing to work 60 hours a week and earn pennies or a few dollars?
When you start a blog, you’ll be working for free at the beginning. This is why so many people say that you should write as much high-quality content as you can in the first month.
At the beginning stages of this blog, I easily working 60 hours a week. I was lucky if I even earned 20 cents from my blog in the beginning stages.
I could’ve made a lot more from my blog if I had went out and gotten a part-time job. Yet, I kept working hard and writing content. Now this blog is making more money every month.
Yet, it’s still nowhere the amount of money that I want to make. I still don’t make as much as I used to make when I worked for the post office.
It takes time to grow a blog and the content you write today, won’t be profitable for several months. You have to give time for Google to start sending you traffic.
Yes, you can speed things up by promoting your content on Pinterest or other social media channels. However, if you’re like me, you don’t want to spend a lot of time creating pins everyday.
You’d rather write content targeting low competitive keywords that will send you traffic day and night. Just remember that you need to give it a lot of time to actually start growing.
Maybe you’ve tried blogging before and decided that it wasn’t the right thing for you. Well, that’s okay, there are several ways to earn money from home.
I recommend choosing a method (don’t overwhelm yourself by doing too much at the beginning). After you’ve gotten established and know what you want to pursue or have started making money with one, you can choose to implement some more income opportunities to increase your income.
How to Make A Full Time Income Online
While online survey jobs won’t make a ton of money, it can be a great way to supplement your income. Not all survey sites are worth your time and effort.
When I first started this blog, I was filling out surveys while I waited for my blog to start making money. I was filling out surveys thinking that I was making $7 per survey.
It turned out that I was actually earning 7 of their “survey dollars” which really amounts to a few pennies. I wasted a ton of time doing that.
If you’re going to fill out surveys to earn some extra cash, then make sure that you stick to the reputable sites below:
This is one of the most popular online survey sites that has million of users. Once you join, you can earn points for watching videos, answering surveys and polls and searching the Swagbucks search engine.
You can exchange your Swagbuck points for gift cards from Walmart, Amazon or you can get cash back from PayPal.
Vindale Research is one another one of those sites that allows their members to get paid for taking surveys, watching videos, taking photos, and referring friends.
Their daily study pays around 0.75 – $1.25. Members can complete a maximum of 10 daily studies per day. You could sign up and just focus on the daily studies and make an extra $50 per month or more.
Once you sign up Survey Junkie will help you find the right surveys that match your profile. They have been in business since 2013 and pay anywhere from $2 to $75 per completed survey.
The longer and more detailed the survey, the more you’ll make. Members have the opportunity to redeem virtual points for PayPal or e-gift cards.
Tis is another site that pays it’s members for reading emails, referring new members, playing games and filling out surveys. Personally, I am NOT a fan of their surveys, I’ve done a few, but I prefer their referal program.
It’s nice when I wake up and get emails saying that you’ve earned $1.00 for refer friends bonus. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but I don’t do anything for receiving those emails. I’ve written a few blog posts once and they continue to pay over and over.
All these sites will pay you for referring people to them and actually taking the time to complete surveys. I’ve used all of them and as I mentioned, you won’t get rich from them but you can earn decent money.
Become A Freelance Writer
If you enjoy writing articles like I do, you may want to consider becoming a freelance writer. There are plenty of people who are willing to pay you to write articles for them.
When I was working as a WordPress freelancer, I would also take on some freelance writing gigs. I figured I was already setting up WordPress for them, why not offer to write articles for them as well.
It’s pretty amazing that people are willing to pay you to write articles that don’t take very long to write. Here’s some tips to help you get started:
- Write constantly, the more you write the better you become.
- Enroll in a freelance writing course – this is the one that I recommend.
- Get on Facebook and start networking with other bloggers, this can be a great way to get your name out there.
Become a Blogger
This is my favorite way to make money online because you have so much freedom. You’re reading my blog and I’m obviously a blogger that gets paid for writing articles just like this.
You might be wondering, how does a blogger make money? Well, there are tons of ways to monetize a blog, right now I make money through ads, affiliate marketing, and my eBooks.
The cool thing is that anyone can start a blog, here’s a tutorial that will walk you through the entire process. It doesn’t cost a lot and you can grow it as fast or as slow as you want.
If you want to succeed with your blog, I recommend choosing a niche (what you’re going to be writing about) that you are passionate about.
This isn’t my first blog, I’ve failed online before. The reason that I failed was because I was trying to start blogs in topics that I had no interest in.
It takes a while for a blog to start earning money. This is why it’s so important to choose something that you’re passionate about. Otherwise, it will be hard to keep writing when you’re NOT making any money.
At the time of this writing, there are over 152 million blogs online. Are you ready to start yours and work hard to turn it into a profitable venture?
Start An Online Business
There are literally tons of online businesses that you can start. Almost every business is run on the Internet and this opens up a world of opportunities for the average person.
I know that it sounds scary or expensive to start an online business. Unlike brick and mortar businesses, it is very affordable for anyone to start their own business.
Here are a few ideas that you can get started with:
Become A Virtual Assistant
Virtual assistants can do virtually anything from creating graphics for Pinterest, scheduling social media posts, managing an email inbox, managing affiliate payments, setting up autoresponders (Aweber, ConvertKit, Mailchimp) following up with clients, and etc.
There’s a good chance that you have the skills to offer your services as a virtual assistant. If this sounds interesting to you, check out 30 Days or Less to Virtual Assistant Success.
I love affiliate marketing because you can literally get started today with or without a website. Personally, I think you’ll have more success if you start with your own website.
There are literally tons of people who make six figures or more with affiliate marketing. The one person who comes to mind is Michelle Gardner from Making Sense of Cents.
She created a course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, where she shares how she makes six-figures every month. If you’re not ready to invest in a course, check out this free training that will teach you everything you need to know about making money using this business model.
Become a Vlogger
I have a friend who’s niece just started her own YouTube channel. She’s just a teenager and decided to start her own YouTube channel to see if she can make money online.
The cool thing is that you don’t need to invest in any expensive equipment to get started. I’ve put together some of the best vlogging cameras to help you get started.
Just like blogging, it takes time to build a successful channel. As you continue creating videos, your videos will get better and you’ll start to make money from your YouTube channel.
Other Ways to Make Money Online
Don’t want to start your own business but still want to earn extra income? Well, it’s totally possible, just don’t expect to earn thousands per month.
I’ve used all these sites to help me supplement my income. No, it’s not lot but every little bit helps pay the bills and I love making money online regardless of the form that it comes to me.
I hadn’t heard of Ibotta until I joined the Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course. This will give you cash back on your groceries. Every time I go grocery shopping, I make sure that I use the app.
I don’t know about you, but I love getting cash back when I go shopping.
Do you love shopping online? If so, then you definitely need to sign up with Ebates for free. You’ll earn a percentage of the amount of money you spend online. They’ve partnered with over 2500 reputable stores, you’ll have no problem finding one that you shop at on a regular basis.
Final Take Away
More and more people are using the Internet to take control of their financial future. You get full control over what method you want to choose.
I’ve provided several things you can do starting today. However, these methods just scratch the surface of different money making opportunities.
The best advice I can give you is to find something that you enjoy doing. Make a decision to get started and work hard to reach your financial goals.
Don’t make the mistake of jumping from one method to another. Pick one method and stick with it. Success doesn’t happen overnight and you need to be willing to give it at least one year or longer to see results.
