Today, I thought I'd share my review of the Jaaxy keyword research tool. As you know, I am a huge fan of SEMRush, but can't really afford to pay the steep $99 monthly subscription.
I've been on the lookout of finding something that is just as good as SEMRush without the huge price tag. I know that it's like trying to compare apples to oranges.
But most new bloggers are going to be looking for a keyword research tool that doesn't cost a fortune. The great thing is that there are tons of different options available like:
The list could go on and on. I've personally used all of them from the list above and today, I'll be sharing my personal opinion and review of the Jaaxy keyword tool.
My hope is that this tutorial will walk you through on how to use this keyword research tool to find some golden nuggets.
As part of the Jaaxy review, I'll also show you how to find keyword ideas to create new money generating sites.
How to Use Jaaxy
Once you log into your account, you'll be taken to the first screen where you'll be asked to enter a seed keyword. I suggest starting with a head keyword and filter down until you find some low hanging fruit.

What Is Low Hanging Fruit?
Think of it as a plum tree. This past Spring I went to a friends house to pick some plums from their trees. All the plums at the top were beautiful because they got the most sun.
However, they were too high for me to reach, even with a ladder.
It was a lot easier for me to pick all the plums from the bottom.
This is what you want to do with keyword research, you want to focus on low competitive keywords with a decent amount of monthly searches.
Don't make the same mistake that I made when I started this blog. I went after keywords that were just too competitive that will never rank on the first page of Google.
I've since changed my strategy and am only focusing on low competitive keywords.
How to Find the Right Keyword Using Jaaxy Research Keyword Tool
Okay now that you understand you're only willing to look for low competition keywords, let's see what you get after putting in your seed keyword.
A Look Inside Jaaxy
For this demonstration, I am searching the word "hiking."
Unfortunately, with the lite version, you'll only be able to see the first 12 results. It's asking me to upgrade to the next plan which costs $49 per month.
For this tutorial, I won't be upgrading since I am already paying for a different keyword tool that I am happy with.
Maybe after I take it for a spin, I might consider upgrading?
We'll be limited with what we can do, but I think this tutorial will be enough to let you know whether you think this is the best keyword tool for you to try out.
Frequently Used Features
Keyword Data
This is the tab that shows you all the information for the seed keyword you entered as well as all the related keywords.
It's important to pay choose the right topics that will bring you traffic. If you rush this part, you'll write tons of content that will never rank
We'll cover this section more in depth later or you can ===> Skip to Keyword Data Section.
Alphabet Soup (Like Google Suggest)
The Alphabet Soup mixes up your keyword to give you different phrases using all the letters in the alphabet.
I stuck with the seed keyword of "hiking sticks" and here are some of the results it returned.
- hiking sticks + a
- a + hiking sticks
- hiking sticks + b
- b + hiking sticks
It takes your seed keyword and combines it with different words using all the letters in the alphabet.
You could basically use some of these results to help you come up with some great blog titles. Here's some of them that I found.
Make sure that you use the CoSchedule Headline Analyzer to see what type of score those titles get.
This can be a great feature if you have no clue what your next blog post should be.
Saved Lists
During your research if you find a topic or keyword that you want to add to your list for later, all you do is click on "add."
This feature can save you a ton of time if you're like me who loves doing keyword research on a daily basis.
Once you find a potential keyword, you can add it to your list so you can write a post on it later.

Search History
This tab, you'll find all your search history of every keyword that you've performed.
Search Analysis
Find out which websites are ranking for your desired keywords and what they are doing to rank.
You can check the three search engines:
This is a great feature because it gives you all the data you can use to help you see if you can beat out the competition to rank on the first page.
You'll see the following statistics:
I would personally pay attention to the word count and the number of backlinks the site has.
If you're like me and don't like building backlinks, you want to choose keywords that don't require you to build a ton of backlinks to rank.
If your competition has written a 2,000 word article, you'll know that you have to write a more informative article.
Affiliate Programs
This feature is pretty cool because it will give you an estimate of what you can earn with an affiliate program.
Once you enter a keyword, it will search the database bringing back affiliate programs from:
This will help you find affiliate products that you can promote.
You can quickly scan the:
I always pay attention to the commission amount. Don't waste your time promoting products with a low commission rate.
Brainstorm
This section will show you the popular blog topics that are being searched on:
Just looking at this I see that Aretha Franklin Funeral is trending right now.
It may be challenging to find keywords that are related to your topic. However, this can be a good page to see what some of the Amazon best sellers are if you're into building niche sites.
If you find something that you'd like to pursue, you can check to see if the domain name is available. Although you can only do this on the Pro and Enterprise plans.
But this can be a great time saver to know which niche sites to create.
Jaaxy Video Training
I don't use this tool, but wanted to make sure that I learned as much as I could about it to help you out.
Every keyword tool is different and there's a little bit of a learning curve. The cool thing is that you can watch the Jaaxy Training Videos to help you understand how to use this tool.
I watched the videos and they are extremely helpful.

Training Videos
I suggest that you set aside a couple hours to watch the videos because it will cut your learning curve in half. Here's what you'll find in the training section.
I suggest that you sign up for the free trial before upgrading to a paid plan to follow along with the videos.
Keyword Data And Keyword Lists
This section is going to cover everything you need to know about analyzing your keywords. Take it from me, you want to spend time learning how to do keyword research.
If you pick the wrong keywords that have too much competition, you'll end up wasting a ton of time.
Keyword
This column is where you see your seed keyword as well as all the related keywords.
Avg (average monthly searches): This is the amount of searches that the keyword gets per month. The total search traffic for the keyword is based on Google, Bing, Yahoo combined.
I always make sure that the keyword gets a minimum of 50 searches before I sit down to write a blog post.
Estimated Traffic: This is the amount of traffic you can expect per month if your post ranks first on Google. This is the lowest amount of traffic you could receive, don't be surprised if you happen to get more.
QSR (Quoted Search Results): This tells you how many competing websites are ranking in Google for the same exact keyword or keyphrase.
Your goal is to find keywords with a low QSR number. The lower the number the better because it means that you'll have less competition.
KQ (Keyword Quality): The traffic light system to help you determine the competitiveness of a keyword.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization): This column will tell you how good the keyword is to optimize for SEO. It is scored on a range from 0 - 100 and the higher the better.
An SEO score of over 80 means that there's a good chance you'll be able to rank for it.
Domains: A quick easy way to find exact match domains. You'll be able to search the GoDaddy database to find a domain for your new niche site.
To use this feature, you'll need to upgrade to the Premium or the Enterprise plan.
Related: This box contains all the keywords that are related to your target keyphrase.
Brainstorm: A list of keywords to help you brainstorm. This is great when you're having trouble coming up with some topics.
How Much Does Jaaxy Cost?
One of the first things I always look for when testing out a new service or product for my blog business is the price.
Yes, tools make our life easier because it can save us time. Unfortunately, all SEO tools come with a price.
I'm sure that you'll find this keyword research tool affordable to be one of the affordable ones online.
There's 3 options when it comes to signing up. I'll cover the benefits and feature of each plan below.
Free Plan (Price $0)
You only get 30 keyword searches and then, I think you'll be asked to upgrade. I'm not really sure as this is the first time that I'll be using this tool.
This is the Wealthy Affiliate keyword tool, that was developed by Kyle and Carson. They are the creators of Wealthy Affiliate, which I've never been a member of.
You don't have to be a member to use the tool. Since I've been hearing so many people in Facebook Groups talk about how good it is, so I thought I'd take it for a spin.
Unlike with KWFinder where you get 5 free searches in a 24 hour period. With LongTailPro, you can sign up for a 7 day trial and see how you like it.
So right off the back, you can see that you're going to have to make the most of the lite version.
Personally, I think 30 searches is not to test it out to find some potential keywords. But it will give you an idea of you want to upgrade to paid subscription.
Pro Plan (Price $49/Month)
The pro plan is perfect for anyone who isn't a power user or is new to Internet marketing.
If you are working on several sites, you'll want to check out the Enterprise plan.
For $49 per month, you'll get:
Enterprise Plan ($99/Month)
This is the perfect plan for the power user or someone who runs several niche sites.
You can use this plan to compile huge lists of keywords for your own/ blog or niche sites.
If you have customer's you can use it for their sites as well.
This version has everything that the Pro version has with a few extra feeatures.
Is Jaaxy Worth Your Money?
This is the toughest question, especially, since it is a monthly subscription.
Unfortunately, I can't answer this question for you. You're going to have to take it for a spin to see how you like it.
The 30 free searches are not going to be enough to justify the cost.
I recommend signing up for at least one month with the Pro Account. (make sure you sign up with the free plan and watch all the videos in the back office)
Once you've used up your 30 searches, upgrade to the Pro account. Then use the tool everyday to find keywords and add them to your list.
Do Yourself A Favor
Don't take my word for it, take it for a spin for yourself. It's the only way that you'll know for sure if this is the best keyword research tool.
If you're not happy with it, you haven't lost anything but a little bit of time.
Who knows, maybe you'll love all the features and it will help you grow your online business?
Should You Try It?
I'm a huge fan of trying different keyword tools. If I can find something that makes my life easier, then I'm all for it.
Plus you can try the free version like I did just to test it out. You won't get all the features, but you'll be able to see if it's something that you want to test out even further.
Take it from me, you're going to have to test out several different tools before you find the right one for you.
Just because someone says something is great and they love it, doesn't mean it's the right tool for you.
Write Content
Finding the golden nuggets is great, but they won't help you get traffic until you actually sit down and write the content.
Final Take Away
As a blogger, you need a lot of content. You need the right content that you gives you a chance to rank on the first page of Google.
Don't make the same mistake I made when I started this blog. I didn't take the time to do keyword research.
That led me to writing a bunch of articles that either target keywords that were too competitive or just don't target any keywords.
Now I'm having to go back and optimize those posts to see if I can improve them and get more website traffic.
Trust me, it's a lot easier if you do it right from the beginning.
