A Look At My New Website Launch and The Results So Far

I wanted to share an update on my website launch from 2 months ago. As you know, I decided to start a second blog because I don’t want to have all my eggs in one basket. It’s much easier for me to sleep at night when I know that I am working on building several online assets.

Hopefully, by sharing what I did will help you see how easy it is to get started. I didn’t worry about social media, setting up an email list, or doing any of those traditional things with my new blog.

For my second site, I am doing things a lot differently. Instead of focusing on a multi-topic blog like this one, I’ve decided to stick to a very tightly focused blog.

I’ve also moved away from the extremely competitive blogging and make money online niche.

While I love blogging in this niche, it is a challenging niche to succeed in, and it doesn’t do very well on Pinterest.

Plus, there’s a ton of competition and most of the blogs in this niche have a ton of authority.

I’m NOT saying that you can’t blog about blogging, but you’ll find much faster success if you start a blog in a totally different niche. At least that’s what I’m seeing from the results of my new blog.

Today, I thought I’d share the exact process that I’m taking with my second blog, and why I’ve decided to totally ignore the launch checklist that I used with this blog.

At the time of this writing, I’ve only had 5 organic visitors to my new blog, but I’ll share why I expect that to grow in the coming months.

But first, let’s look at how most people start a new website or blog. It’s the same process that I took with this site.

Best Practices for Launching a New Website

Most people, myself included will usually decide to launch a brand new website when we read someone’s income report online.

We start a blog with the hopes of earning passive income online, so we choose a niche that is proven to make money. Let’s take a look at some of those popular niches that most of us end up getting started in.

Niches That Make Money

1. Fitness and Weight Loss
2. Health
3. Dating and Relationships
4. Self-Improvement
5. Make Money Online
6. Beauty
7. Personal Finance

Now, I know that there are a lot more niches that you can enter that will make you money, but these are just some of the most popular.

What most of us do is try to find a sub-niche or sub-topic in one of these competitive niches. Then we usually go to go Google to find out the best day to launch a website and press publish.

Once we press publish, we create a blog schedule and publish maybe 1-2 articles per week. We also take the time to set up our social media platforms and email list for our new site.

Because we’re told that you have to have an email list online to make money. I do believe that the money is in the list, but I don’t think that you need to start an email list from day one if you’re just building a niche site.

Let me share the way that I launched my new website and my upcoming goals.

My New Launch Campaign

For my second blog, I did things totally different. I did some research and made sure that I had enough interest to publish 40-50 blog posts. (at the time of this writing, I currently have 40 posts published)

Once my blog was set up on SiteGround, I sat down and started writing. I didn’t care about setting up a schedule for my writing process, my goal was to publish as many posts as I could as quickly as I could in the first 2 months.

Number of Blog Posts Published:

• Month 1: 21 articles published
• Month 2: 19 articles published
• Month 3: 0 articles published (my goal is to get 5-10 published)

As you can see, my goal with this site was to get as many seeds planted as quickly as possible. Again I used KWFinder to help me find those low competition keywords.

I also used Google Autocomplete to give me hints of what people are searching for. If you don’t know how to find what people are searching for, here’s a great article to help you out.

There were some days when I was publishing 2 articles per day. My goal was to just get as many articles written as quickly as I could.

It’s Hard to Keep Writing

One of the biggest challenges for new bloggers is to keep writing when no one is reading their posts or they’re NOT seeing any traffic.

I totally get it, after all, no one is visiting my new site yet. Here’s a screenshot of how my analytics looks like at 2 months old.

Most of those visits are my own, I didn’t block my views from my analytics. As I mentioned above, it’s only had a total of 5 organic visits.

You can see, that it’s going to be hard to write content when you’re not getting any traffic. All I can tell you is that you just need to keep pushing through those feelings.

Your goal should be to get 50 blog posts written in your first 3 months or sooner. I’ll be focusing on that blog this week, I still have 10 posts to write.

I’ll keep you updated on whether or not the blog grows in the upcoming months. I’m going to give it a few months for it to actually grow before I write another update.

Now That The Articles Are Written

Once I get to 45-50 (hopefully, 50) I’ll just leave the site alone for a while. I don’t plan on publishing anymore content until I can see that the site is going to take off.

I am using SerpWatcher to help me keep track of my rankings. I’ve already started seeing my site moving up on the Google rankings.

As the site ages, I know that the rankings will continue to climb. The site is already starting to get some rankings on Google and it just turned 2 months old on the 6th of this month.

This website is gaining traction a lot faster than this blog ever did. If it does prove to be more successful than this blog, I’ll be spending more time on growing it and monetizing it properly.

Since the site is still brand new, I haven’t really been focusing on monetization. Right now, my goal is to provide great content so the site can grow.

Adding More Blog Posts

Once the blog gets at least 50 articles, I’ll take a small little break from all the writing. Yup, I’ve been doing all the writing myself, so I am going to give myself a little break from the website.

After taking about a month break or more off, my goal is to start adding more content. I won’t be adding all the content at one time, in fact, I’ll probably set a schedule to only add 1-2 articles per week.

Starting With Pinterest

I’ve also verified my site with Pinterest and started pinning other people’s content. I haven’t created any pins for my blog yet, but I do plan on doing it once I get my 50 blog posts published.

I’m not sure if this niche will do well on Pinterest, but I have seen some other bloggers on the platform. I figure, I will give it a shot to see how my pins perform.

I’ll be using this tool to help me create pins quickly. My goal is to create 3-5 pins for several of my blog posts.

One thing that I’ve learned from using Pinterest, is that list posts tend to perform the best. I made sure to create a few list type posts on my new blog because I wanted to promote them on Pinterest.

Right now, I have about 5 boards created on my new account. I still haven’t joined any Pinterest groups, but hopefully, I’ll be able to join some.

I’m hoping that the Pinterest groups will help me grow faster than using my own boards.

My goal is to be able to get my site to take off a little bit quicker than just sitting around and waiting for Google to start sending me traffic.

Although, I’m not sure how much faster I’ll be able to grow on Pinterest, since I had to create a brand new account.

Other Plans for My New Website

Right now, I don’t have any other plans for this website. I understand that it takes a while for a website to take off, so I won’t be going crazy trying to get it out.

No, I won’t be writing any press releases or making any big announcements about it. In fact, I don’t even plan on setting up an email list for it yet.

I know that a lot of people say that an email list is vital to success online. My plan is to eventually set up an email list, but I don’t think that it NOT having one set up should hold you back from creating a website online.

If you don’t know what type of lead magnet to create at the beginning, it’s not the end of the world. You can always go back and create one later.

The point I’m trying to make is if you’ve been wanting to create a website, but have no clue how to get started. Find a niche and just get your content out there.

Don’t worry about all those little things that hold people up. Once you see that that website is going somewhere, you can always go back and set up ConvertKit or MailerLite to start collecting emails.

Thinking About Starting A Third Website

Since launching my second site, I’ve actually thought about setting up a third one. The hardest part about launching a new website is writing all that content as quickly as possible.

I’m still not at a point where I can outsource the content. Plus, I am a little skeptical about hiring someone to write for me. Maybe one day, I’ll learn how to give up control a little bit, but right now, I’m doing it all by myself.

Since I’ve slowed down on the amount of content I write for this blog, there’s no reason why I can’t have 3 blogs.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned about making money online. You NEVER want to have all your eggs in one basket. My goal is to have 3-5 websites that can make me $2,000 – $4,000 per month.

After all, if I can make money from one website, why not create more than one? I’ve read this article, where it states that it’s easier to make money from several blog instead of one.

The only difference is that I won’t be using link building for my new sites. I also don’t do it for this website.

So, only time will tell if the time and effort that I’m putting into multiple blogs will pay off. Although, I am pretty happy with the results that I’ve been seeing in just 2 months.

Final Take Away

If you’re just starting your very first website, I don’t think you should start more than one at once. It’s so easy to install WordPress, but growing a blog takes a lot of hard work.

Focus on getting your first blog set up. Once it has 100 – 150 articles on it, and you’re actually making money with it, then you can start thinking about adding another digital asset to your portfolio.

The worst thing you can do is have two blogs or more that are NOT making you any money.

It’s one of the quickest ways to get burnt out and start feeling unmotivated because you’re not getting paid for your time and effort.

Plus, if you can’t make money with one blog, there’s a good chance that you won’t be able to make money from two.
